The Netherlands - Royal Niestern Sander to Launch MSV Sanaborg

On the 29th of March the icebreaking multipurpose support vessel Sanaborg will be launched at the shipyard Niestern Sander. The Sanaborg is the first in a series of special engineered logistic services in the Caspian Sea.

The expected delivery will be at the end of July. The second icebreaker, Serkeborg, will follow next month.

The Sanaborg (68,20 x 14,30 m) is specifically developed to provide logistics services to the oil and gas industry in shallow water and ice. The vessel is powered by diesel electric Caterpillar 3516C – Tier II diesel generator sets that produce 2,000 kW giving Wartsila’s Icepods a bollard pull of 34 tons.

Royal Niestern Sander is well established in the area of shipbuilding for merchant shipping and inland shipping. The company has its own Design and Support Unit/Engineering Office for the design, modification and optimal support of the orders. It is also a member of Conoship International BV, a cooperative marketing, design and consultancy/advice centre of three Northern Dutch shipyards.

The reference list contains building orders for chemical tankers, research vessels, offshore vessels and a range of ship types for the carriage of dry cargoes.
