China: CIC Boluomiao Shipyard Completes Repair Projects for Two Vessels

Recently, CIC Boluomiao Shipyard completed two repair projects of m/v Kinda and m/v Delimindoulu with high quality. The shipyard laid a sound foundation for the first quarter repair of 2012.

The owner of the vessel Kinda, redelivered on the 2nd of March, is a Hong Kong company. The main projects included the repair of FPT, APT, DBT, engine room, main Deck pipe system, hatch covers and etc. Since the ship was in bad condition, during the repair period the owner increased the repair projects and there were lots of overlapping jobs to be carried out.

The yard held a special meeting to work out a feasible construction plan, regarding the repair of FPT, APT and hatch Covers as key projects, strengthening the control of the difficulties and boosting the working efficiency. After 61-day hard working, the project was completely finished and the vessel could set sail to load goods on time.

Moreover, the repair project of m/v Delimindoulu redelivered on the 9th of March also obtained a high praise from the owner. There were lots of mechanical faults in key equipments, such as main engine, electrical machine, windlass and mooring winch and etc. The construction of pipe system was quite difficult and covered large area with hot works. Meanwhile, since the repair period encountered Chinese Spring Festival holiday, it brought great pressure on the organization of labor force and safety control.

The yard worked out a detailed plan and took measure to ensure the repair safety & delivery date. During the trials of varied projects, the yard’s staff worked overnight to fulfill the trails of the hatches & hatch covers. On March 6th, the repair project was completely finished as schedule.
