INS Tarkash Readies for Final Checkup Trial Round

Project 11356 frigate INS Tarkash built by JSC Yantar Shipyard for Indian Navy  is now getting ready for the  final checkup trial round scheduled for Oct 31, having completed  acceptance trials, Central Navy Portal reports citing a source from the shipyard.

At the moment, final touches on removal of minor defects, detected on onboard systems amid previous rounds of sea trial are underway. These include hull  cleanup activities, followed by interior furnishing of the vessel.

The frigate is expected to be handed over to its owner in November.

Yantar has been building frigates (on Russian classification – escort ships) for Indian Navy since 2006. In total, the shipyard has received order for construction of three frigates – INS Teg (Saber), INS Tarkash (Quiver), and INS Trikand (Bow). Project 11356 was developed by Severnoye Design Bureau subordinate to United Shipbuilding Corporation.
