Business Should Be Good for Next Few Years, TY CEO Says
John Dane III president and CEO of Trinity Yachts, based in New Orleans and CEO of TY Offshore, delivered a keynote speech on Wednesday, December 5 at the Seventh Annual Shipyard Day at the International WorkBoat Show.

While speaking on the future prospects in the shipbuilding industry Mr. Dane expressed his optimism, saying that business should be good for the next few years especially with the U.S. on track to be the world’s largest oil and gas producer by 2020, workboat.com informs.

Currently there are 183 rigs under construction worldwide with 63 options through 2016, which will all need boats, Dane said adding that around 61 dynamic positioning OSVs are being built in the U.S.

The biggest problem in the industry in the U.S. is the possibility of higher taxes, and most importantly lack of skilled workers.

With respect to the ongoing projects in his company Mr. Dane pointed out in his interview with  WorkBoat editor in chief David Krapf on the International WorkBoat Show floor that:

“We have turned into a diversified company over the years and we are currently building five 302 foot dual fueled LNG platform supply vessels for Harvey Gulf with options for five more.”
