Hamburg Sud Christens Boxship 'Cap San Augustin'

Last Friday, Hamburg Süd celebrated the christening of its container ship “Cap San Augustin” at the Kai Tak Cruise Terminal in Hong Kong. After delivery from the Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard in Ulsan (South Korea), the ship was introduced into the group’s liner service between Asia and the South American East coast.

With a nominal slot capacity of 9,600 TEU, the newbuild is one of the largest ships owned by the group. At the same time, with its 2,100 reefer plugs the “Cap San Augustin” is currently one of the largest reefer capacity ships worldwide.

The “Cap San Augustin” is the third container ship in a series of six newbuilds in the new “Cap San” class.
