Cargo Ships Collide in Azov Sea

Two general cargo ships collided while on opposite courses on Thursday afternoon, July 31 in the Azov sea, according to the local Vessel Traffic Control Centre.

The two vessels are Moldova-flagged Borisfen, which was en route to Turkey laden with wheаt from Rostov and Cambodia-flagged cargo vessel Welle, built in 1982.

There were no injuries reported, however, Borisfen’s bulkheads and bulwarks were dented in the portside forepeak bilge and tears were found on its main deck.

The two vessels were reported to have continued their journey and that Welle managed to dock in Rostiv, while Borisfen anchored in Azov area.
