Qatar’s first shipment of liquefied natural gas (LNG) arranged under the new USD 16-billion deal signed last month has arrived in Pakistan aboard an LNG ship Al Gattara.

The 2007-built Q-Flex LNG ship Al Gattara arrived to the Elengy Terminal in Port Qasim on March 1st where it remains today as well based on the data from Marine Traffic.

The ship’s 141,000 cubic metre cargo is expected to be transferred to a floating terminal of the Sui Southern Gas Company’s system within seven days, the Associated Press of Pakistan informed.

In order to support the deal that envisages import of 3.75 million tonnes of LNG, four LNG ships are slated to arrive at Port Qasim on a monthly basis, Reuters quoted Chairman Port Qasim Authority (PQA), Agha Jan Akhtar, as saying.

Akhtar added that four new LNG terminals will be installed at Port Qasim for this purpose.
