Solstad Charters Another CSV to Ocean Installer (Norway)

After it today announced the decision to sell 50% in one of its CSV vessels to Subsea 7, Norway’s offshore shipping company, Solstad Offshore ASA, has more news to offer.

The company has secured a charter contract for its offshore construction vessel (CSV) “Normand Mermaid” with Ocean Installer AS, a Norwegian subsea construction specialist.

Under the agreement, the duration of the contract is firm for 5 years with further 5 x 1 year option and it is scheduled to start on the 1st March 2013.

“We are very pleased that we will have this highly efficient vessel at our disposal. This contract is in line with our strategy of providing our clients with first rate assets and technology, and confirms the relation being built between SOFF and Ocean Installer” , says Steinar Riise, CEO of Ocean Installer

“Normand Mermaid” is a medium sized CSV built in 2002. The vessel is well suited for subsea construction work in both deep and shallow waters.

This is not the first time the two companies have cooperated. Ocean Installer has already signed a contract with Solstad for the hire of the CSV “Normand Clipper”. The contract, signed in August 2011, is expected to begin in Q2 2012.
