RWE Dea AG Appoints New COO (Germany)

RWE Dea AG, an international exploration and production company for oil and gas, has announced the appointment of Dirk Warzecha as its Chief Operating Officer.

Effective as of 1 January 2013, Dirk Warzecha assumed the function of Chief Operating Officer (COO) at RWE Dea AG. In this position, he is the successor to Ralf to Baben, who retired from active duty effective as at 31 December 2012.

Warzecha has been a member of the Board of Management of RWE Dea AG since 1 November 2012; prior to this, he had been engaged as General Manager of RWE Dea Egypt in Cairo. Since he joined the Group in 2003, Warzecha was engaged in various managerial functions at RWE Dea – amongst others, as Head of Reservoirs and of the Holstein Production District. Before the petroleum engineer joined RWE, Warzecha spent ten years working at Preussag Energie GmbH, where he was in charge of projects in Germany, Tunisia, Venezuela and Ecuador, amongst other locations.

Dr Leonhard Birnbaum, Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) of RWE AG and a member of the Supervisory Board of RWE Dea AG, on this decision: β€œIn his more than ten years with RWE, Ralf to Baben contributed his extensive operational and technical competence and, during his time as COO of RWE Dea AG, he was a key contributor to the advancement of the company. We wish to express our sincere thanks to him for his work with us. And we are delighted to have acquired Dirk Warzecha as his successor, a manager with impressive expertise and international industry experience who will continue to bring forward RWE Dea.”
