RWE Dea Norge Names Managing Director

As of June 1st, Hugo Sandal (62) has been appointed Managing Director of RWE Dea Norge. Sandal, who also ran the company from 1995 to 2011, has for the past two years been acting as Chairman of the Board of RWE Dea Norge, as well as Senior Vice President Production Europe at RWE Dea’s head offices in Hamburg, Germany.

Hugo Sandal, Managing Director RWE Dea Norge: “This is truly an exciting time to return as Managing Director to RWE Dea Norge. We have taken new and important steps towards strengthening and expanding our license portfolio and our organisation is developing and changing to accommodate this”, says Sandal. “At the same time, we will continue exploring at the high rate that we have for the past years, as well as continuing to develop our license portfolio”, Sandal continues.

Only last week, RWE Dea Norge announced to have been awarded its eighth operatorship on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Sandal replaces Hans-Joachim Polk (47), who will assume responsibility for RWE Dea’s operations in the UK. “I cherish my two years spent in Norway, during which we have achieved a lot. We have made significant new discoveries, and collected state of the art seismic data which will lay the foundation for many of our efforts moving forward,” says Polk. “I have for the past two years come to know my Norwegian colleagues as committed, competent and creative people, and look forward to following their progress going forward.” Polk will continue to serve on the board of RWE Dea Norge.

RWE Dea Norge is in its 40th year on the Norwegian Continental Shelf, and has compiled a solid license portfolio encompassing the entire Shelf. The company is approaching development of the Zidane field, where it holds the operatorship and made discoveries in 2010 and 2012. RWE Dea Norge also made discoveries on the Titan field in 2010, and will drill an appraisal well on this license later this year.
