Beach Energy enlists new CFO

Australian oil and gas company Beach Energy has appointed Morné Engelbrecht as its Chief Financial Officer, effective August 29, 2016.

Engelbrecht will replace long‐serving Chief Financial Officer, Kathryn Presser.

Beach Energy noted in a press release on Thursday that Engelbrecht is a Chartered Accountant with experience in the oil, gas and resource sectors across various jurisdictions, including Australia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Papua New Guinea and China.

He currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer of ASX‐listed Carbon Energy, having served in this role since 2013. Prior to this he held various financial, commercial and advisory senior management positions at InterOil, Lihir Gold and PwC, the company said.

Further, Beach Energy said, Engelbrecht also has experience in strategy and planning, debt and equity markets, mergers and acquisitions, joint venture management and operations.

Chief Executive Officer, Matthew Kay, said: “We are delighted to have secured the talents of an accomplished executive with a diverse skill‐set. Morné brings to Beach over 16 years of oil, gas and resources experience gained within corporate and professional services environments.

“His financial and risk management expertise is complemented by demonstrated acumen in driving corporate strategy, which will be of great value in helping to deliver Beach’s growth strategy.”

Regarding the departure of the current CFO, Kay added: “On behalf of the Board and company, I would like to thank Kathryn for her dedicated service to Beach over the past 19 years. Kathryn will depart Beach on 1 July 2016, and we wish her well for the future.”
