Searcher Seismic Completes Duvalia 2D Seismic Survey (Australia)

Searcher Seismic completes the acquisition of the Duvalia 2D Seismic Survey in Carnarvon Basin, Australia.

The Duvalia Survey comprises approximately 3,302km of new, long-offset 2D seismic data. The survey provides coverage over 2012 Federal Acreage Releas blocks W12-10 and W12-11.

The presence of a working petroleum system in the area is demonstrated by several recent discoveries in adjacent permits, including Alaric-1 (Woodside, 2010), Cadwallon-1 (Woodside, 2010) and Vos-1 (Chevron, 2011). All of these wells encountered gas in the Triassic Mungaroo Formation and the available data indicates the presence of similar rotated fault blocks within the proposed gazettal areas. The existing data coverage over Block W12-10 is particularly sparse, with only a handful of vintage data currently available in the public domain. Water depths in the area range from 2000m to over 4000m. The Duvalia Survey has been planned to concentrate in the areas with water depths less than 3000m, and provides a grid of approximately 5km by 10km over the more prospective portion of the release area. Existing coverage over Block W12-11 is more extensive, but still relatively sparse in the Northern portion of the area. Water depths range from 1500m to 2300m. Additional data from the Duvalia Survey will in-fill existing coverage so that a grid of no more than 5km by 10km is available over the entire area.

Searcher Seismic Pty Ltd is a pure play multi-client company providing high quality, non-exclusive seismic datasets and associated products to the global oil and gas industry. The Searcher data library consists of a full range of products derived from both 2D / 3D reprocessing and 2D / 3D acquisition. Searcher’s extensive experience in the management of marine seismic acquisition and processing in a variety of geological settings makes them the data provider of choice for some of the largest oil and gas companies in the world.
