Business & Finance

Greece based Assodivers have confirmed an order for an additional SMD Atom 100hp 3000m rated work class remotely operated vehicle (ROV) complete with Launch and Recovery system (LARs).

Assodivers Order 2nd Atom ROV from SMD

The work class ROV system will be delivered during the third quarter of this year and will complement their existing Atom ROV system which has been performing successfully since it was delivered in 2012. Assodivers plan to use the Atom straight from delivery to support a series of projects in Europe for the provision of submarine cable installation and protection services for some of their major clients.

The Atom is an ultra-compact work class ROV, comparable in size to a large electric ROV but providing the customer with true work class capability. The system is suitable for drill support, IRM, survey and light construction duties and can be mobilised on vessels and rigs with limited deck space. Designed with ease of operation and maintenance in mind, Atom boasts the DVECS II distributed control system with graphical displays and pilot aids coupled with latest generation Curvetech™ multiplatform components.

“We are delighted to supply Assodivers with their second Atom ROV system to support their growth plans for ROV Services”, commented Mark Collins, SMD’s Deputy Managing Director. “Assodivers commitment to purchase a second system from SMD is testament to the performance of our products and through life support we give our customers.”

Dimitris Pavlou, Assodivers’ Engineering Manager, commented: “Our existing Atom vehicle has proven capable of managing work even in demanding environmental conditions. The vehicle is compact sized reducing deck space requirements and designed with technology compatible with our underwater vehicles, which has enabled direct and seamless use on our projects. We are very much looking forward to delivery of our second Atom ROV, which will raise the profile of ROV services within the suite of services offered to our clients.”
