Woodfibre LNG public comment period closed

The proposed Woodfibre LNG project’s public comment period regarding Woodfibre LNG Limited’s application for an environmental assessment certificate has now closed, B.C.’s Environmental Assessment Office said on Tuesday.

EAO posts public comments and the proponent’s responses to the issues raised in the electronic project information centre (e-PIC), it said.

The public comment period for the LNG project was extended by the EAO to 60 days from the initial 46 days, until March 23, 2015.

Woodfibre LNG intends to build and operate a liquefied natural gas export facility on the previous Woodfibre Pulp and Paper Mill site located approximately 7 km west-southwest of the urban centre of Squamish, British Columbia.

The facility would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce up to 2.1 million tonnes per year of liquefied natural gas.
