Navantia UK delivers Trinidad-bound subsea structures to McDermott (Gallery)

Navantia UK has delivered subsea structures from its Arnish facility in Scotland to McDermott International, which have been installed offshore Trinidad and Tobago.

Under a contract announced at the beginning of 2025, Navantia has delivered a pipeline end termination (PLET) structure and two adjustable pipe supports (APS) that have been installed offshore Trinidad and Tobago as part of the subsea infrastructure McDermott is delivering for a “major” gas field development.

All three structures were fabricated, assembled and put through system integration testing at Arnish before loading out from neighboring Stornoway Port for the transatlantic journey to the installation site, around 100 kilometers off the country’s east coast.

“The structures work together on the seabed: the PLET provides the termination and connection point at the end of the subsea pipeline, allowing it to tie in to the wider field infrastructure, while the APS units support the pipeline as it approaches the PLET, with adjustable height to compensate for seabed variations and keep everything precisely aligned for connection,” Navantia UK reported.

According to the firm, the project is one of the largest gas developments in Trinidad and Tobago in recent years, with production exported to shore through a 32-inch pipeline for processing and onward supply to the domestic market.

To remind, Navantia UK purchased the Arnish facility as part of the acquisition of British shipbuilder Harland & Wolff and its operations, completed in January 2025.
