USA: Seacraft Shipyard Delivers M/V Mr. MASON

SEACRAFT Shipyard LLC of Amelia, Louisiana recently delivered the M/V Mr. Mason, a 165’ all aluminum oilfield crew boat, to Iberia Marine Services, LLC. They acquired the vessel, along with several others, as part of their recent fleet expansion program.

The Mr. Mason was refurbished, the stern extended, blasted and painted, and recertified. The gross tonnage of the vessel remains the same since the stern was extended by adding to the exterior of the existing stern and is not enclosed. The Mr. Mason is the first of several contracts awarded by Iberia Marine to SEACRAFT Shipyard to add stern extensions and refurbish their recent acquisitions. The Mr. Mason is very special to the owners because it is named after Mason Walet.

He is a relative of the owners and was born with a weak heart. Mason has had many challenges since his birth and now at 10 years old he walks around each day with a pace maker. He has high hopes of getting a new heart so that he can be like every other young boy his age. Looking at Mason you would not know about his medical condition. He is very active and has a passion for shooting guns. He religiously watched his cousin, Blake Miguez, Esq., vice president of Iberia Marine, compete on The History Channel’s first season of Top Shot and cried when he was eventually eliminated from competition. Blake says Mason is his biggest fan. The vessel was christened and was a total surprise for Mason, since he was not aware that a boat was being named after him. Mason was very surprised and grateful when he saw his name across the bow of the boat. It was a special moment for everyone there.
