Yiu Lian Dockyards Hosts 26th Asian Ship Repairers Conference

From 20th to 21st October, the 26th Asian Ship Repairers Conference undertaken by YIU LIAN DOCKYARDS (SHEKOU) LIMITED was held in Nan Hai Hotel of Shekou, Shenzhen. Mr. Zhu Guiming, general manager of the company and relative business staff in operation department, as host and company representatives, attended this conference.

As a host, Mr. Zhu has delivered a warm speech. Mr. Zhu welcomed the delegates of major Asian ship-repair enterprises to the youngest and the most dynamic city of China — Shenzhen to discuss Asian ship repairing industry’s development. Mr. Zhu emphasized that the world ship repairing industry’s center is in Asia, while the Asian ship repairing industry’s center is in China. At present in Asia especially in China Mainland, between the major shipyards, the competition is quite intense, especially for some local shipyards that adopt cut-throat competition of below-cost price, which will not only hurt the industry itself, but also hurt themselves at last. “We hope that among Asian shipyards, they can make concerted efforts, strengthen self-discipline, create a good atmosphere of competition, overcome the downturn of current industry together, and contribution to ship repairing industry in Asian area as well as in the world” said Mr. Zhu.

Asian Ship Repairers Conference is one of the important meetings participated by major shipyards in Asian, which has been held for 26 sessions. There are totally over 30 delegates of 14 major shipyards from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Chinese Taiwan, Chinese Hongkong and China Mainland attending this conference. In the meeting, the participants shared relevant information and exchanged their opinions extensively with respect to current status and prospect of ship-repair industry, the business status of each shipyard and the relevant topics, at the same time they have made extensive discussion on current price trend of ship repairing market and achieved a certain degree of consensus.

In the morning on 21st, some delegates of the conference come to visit Mazhou Island ship repairing base. The delegates have shown their admire on our development in a short few years from a small and medium-sized shipyard to a large ship repairing enterprise, given a high evaluation on orderly production scene of Mazhou Island, and left a deep impression on the complete production and living facilities of Mazhou Island.
