Airport Authority Hong Kong Opts for Fugro

Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) has awarded Fugro another significant land site investigation contract as part of the $18 billion three-runway system (3RS) project for the expansion of Hong Kong International Airport.
Under the agreement, Fugro will perform geotechnical drilling and cone penetration tests on newly reclaimed land, and provide laboratory testing to acquire geotechnical data for the new passenger building and related infrastructure.
The 3RS project comprises a 650-hectare land formation programme for the construction of a new runway, passenger building and related infrastructure.
Upon completion of the 3RS, the airport will be able to serve an additional 30 million passengers annually.
This project is the latest in a series of engagements undertaken by Fugro since 2011 on the 3RS project, providing AAHK and their engineering and construction partners with preliminary and detailed marine site investigations, geotechnical monitoring, and laboratory and environmental services.
