Aker Solutions: No more staff cuts in MMO sector

Aker Solutions, a Norwegian oil services company, has denied Norwegian media writings on the company’s alleged plans to cut more staff in Norway.

The engineering company rebuffed what it claims are “misleading stories” about supposed staff cuts in maintenance, modifications and operations (MMO) sector.

According to Aker Solutions, some Norwegian media this week published stories giving the impression that Aker Solutions yesterday (April 9, 2015) announced plans to reduce capacity in its MMO business in Norway by an additional 300 positions. This is incorrect, Aker emphasized in its statement.

“The stories used information and quotes from a press release published by Aker Solutions on February 18, 2015, but did not specify this date,” Aker Solutions said.

“Aker Solutions has not made any announcements since February 18 about new capacity adjustments in the MMO business and has no plans to do so,” the company concluded.

To remind, in February 2015, the company announced it will be laying off staff in Norway due to decline in activity levels stemming from low oil prices and that about 300 employees in the Norwegian MMO business may be affected.
