APL to Add Asia Fremantle Express Service

Singapore-based container shipping company APL, part of French CMA CGM, plans to launch the Asia Fremantle Express (AFX) service, a new weekly service connecting Singapore and Fremantle.

The AFX service linking Asia and Australia will start sailing from Singapore on April 27, 2017.

To use Singapore as a transshipment hub, the new service will call Singapore’s PSA Container Terminal and Fremantle’s DP World Fremantle Terminal.

“APL’s new AFX service will enhance our existing Oceania service network of five services that serve Australia. With its … 7-day direct transit between Singapore and Fremantle, the AFX service is the solution for time-sensitive cargo, particularly reefer shipments from Fremantle,” Chan Khai Tou, APL Head of Intra-Asia Short Sea and Oceania Services, said.

“Complementing APL’s Asia Australia Express (AAX), the AFX service adds another weekly shipment cut-off time in Singapore and Fremantle,” Chan Khai Tou added.

APL operates a fleet of 86 containerships, the company’s data shows.
