ATCO Begins Construction on Accommodation Facility for QCLNG (Australia)

ATCO Structures & Logistics (ATCO) has begun construction of a 1,700-person workforce accommodation facility for the Queensland Curtis LNG Project (QCLNG) operated by QGC Pty Limited, a BG Group business.

The construction camp will provide accommodation and recreational amenities for the workforce constructing QGC’s liquefied natural gas processing plant on Curtis Island, Queensland. The contract for the temporary accommodation village was awarded by Bechtel, the engineering firm hired by QGC to manage the project.

ATCO is pleased to have been chosen by Bechtel to provide modular accommodation during the construction of this project, which is significant not only for the Gladstone community, but for Queensland and Australia as well,” said Harry Wilmot, President & Chief Operating Officer, ATCO Structures & Logistics. “We believe our global experience in building workforce accommodation will ensure we provide a safe, comfortable environment to house the workers building the plant.

The 800 modular units comprising the construction camp will be built at ATCO’s manufacturing plant in Brisbane and transported to Curtis Island and installed by ATCO. The camp has been designed to meet the strict environmental standards established for the QCLNG project. The construction village will include comfortable sleeping quarters with TVs and internet connectivity, a kitchen, dining room, laundry area and recreational amenities, including a swimming pool, golf and cricket nets.
