Clough AMEC Scores Blacktip Contract

Engineering and construction company Clough Limited announced that the Clough AMEC joint venture has been awarded a contract for the provision of maintenance support to the 1.3 billion cubic metre per year onshore gas treatment plant and the offshore unmanned wellhead platform for Eni’s Blacktip Project, supplying gas to the Northern Territory.

The scope of work involves the provision of trades labour to support routine and campaign maintenance.  Supporting services including specialist consultancy services, multidiscipline engineering, procurement, and management of subcontractors and fabrication also form part of the contract.

The initial contract is for three years with further extension options and will be supported out of Clough AMEC’s Darwin office, established in 2004.

Clough’s Chief Executive Officer Kevin Gallagher said this award represented further growth in Clough’s Commissioning and Asset Support business.

Clough is delighted to be selected by Eni to support their Australian operations, with our long term strategic partner AMEC.  This award is further testimony to Clough’s commitment to growing its Commissioning and Asset Support business.

The Blacktip maintenance contract further strengthens Clough AMEC’s position in the Northern Territory, an important region for Australia’s oil and gas future.  Clough AMEC is ideally positioned to support the region’s current and future asset support requirements through its Darwin based operations”.

Steve Ciccone, AMEC Regional Director Australia and South East Asia, said: “AMEC is pleased to work with our strategic partner Clough on this key project. This award further strengthens the position of Clough AMEC as a preferred provider of asset support services to the Hydrocarbons sector and reinforces AMEC’s commitment to Australia as a key growth region in-line with our Vision 2015”.

The Blacktip Gas Plant is situated approximately 240km from Darwin near Wadeye with the unmanned platform located approximately 110 km offshore in the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf. The Blacktip Project, which is 100% owned and operated by Eni, delivers gas to the Northern Territory for power generation.
