Australia: Decmil scores QGC job

Australia’s Decmil Group said it has secured a new two-year framework agreement with QGC, a unit of Shell, for brownfield projects within Queensland’s Surat Basin.

The framework deal will span the remainder of 2016 and to April 2018 and the scope includes the provision of construction activities, structural, mechanical and piping services across a number of QGC’s brownfield projects, Decmil said on Tuseday.

Works are expected to commence in June 2016.

The company’s unit, Decmil Australia has been working with QGC in the Surat Basin for the past five years under a contract that involves the installation of wellheads for QGC.

Decmil said earlier this year it has been awarded an extension to its QCLNG wellsite installation services contract for QGC.

QGC was before a unit of BG Group, that was acquired by Hague-based Shell in a $54 billion deal in February.

QGC produces natural gas from wells drilled into coal seams in the Surat Basin in the west of the state, and in addition is exploring for gas from coal seams in the Bowen and Cooper Basins.

The gas is being supplied to both domestic customers and to the 8 mtpa LNG plant on Curtis Island.
