Australia: RDM Builds Fourth Vessel for Coastal Fast Ferries

RDM Builds Fourth Vessel for Coastal Fast Ferries

Following the Launch of Kilimanjaro III last year, Coastal Fast Ferries has continued to grow its operation. “Kilimanjaro IV” is RDM’s fourth build for AZAM Marine’s Coastal Fast Ferries.

With the two 35m Kilimanjaro I and Kilimanjaro II vessels and the 38m Kilimanjaro III dominating the busy route between Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, the addition of the 45m Kilimanjaro IV to the service opens new horizons. The outlying island of Pemba will be regularly serviced by the 35 knot quad Cummins KTA50 powered Kilimanjaro IV. Each engine developing 1800 bhp drives a Kamewa 50A3 waterjet.

Kilimanjaro IV has a beam of 11.5m and will carry approximately 650 passengers in multiple seating configurations and classes. Like her predecessor she will be fitted with a Humphree active interceptor ride control system to minimise pitch and yaw.
