Australia: Samsung Wins USD 2.71 bln Ichthys CPF Order

One of the largest shipbuilders in the world and one of the “Big Three” shipbuilders of South Korea, Samsung Heavy Industries Co Ltd has received a $2.71 billion order from Japan’s Inpex Corp for the construction of an offshore central processing facility (CPF) for the Ichthys LNG project in Australia.

The CPF will process gas from the Inpex operated Ichthys offshore field in order to remove water and raw liquids, including a large proportion of the condensate. The gas will then be transported via subsea pipeline to the onshore LNG plant proposed for Blaydin Point on Middle Arm Peninsula, Darwin. The remaining condensate will be pumped to an FPSO facility anchored nearby, from which it will be transferred to tankers for delivery to markets.

According to the data on the Korea Exchange (KRX), the delivery of the facility is scheduled for November 2015.
