AVIC Maritime Bags Bulker Duo

AVIC International Maritime Holdings Limited (AVIC Maritime) and Ceylon Shipping Corporation Limited (CSCL) have signed a contract for the construction of two 64,000 dwt bulk carriers.

AVIC’s Weihai shipyard will be responsible for building the bulker duo. The newbuildings, to be delivered within two years’ time, will be mainly used for coal transportation to the Sri Lanka’s power plants.

The contract was signed by the Chairman of CSCL, Vice Admiral Jayanath Colombage, who is also the Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy, and Mrs. Chen Xiaohong, Assistant President of AVIC International Beijing Company Limited.
