BBG starts LNG carrier reloading ops at Bilbao

Spain’s Bahía de Bizkaia Gas (BBG) said it has, for the first time, reloaded a carrier with LNG at its terminal in the port of Bilbao on Monday, May 25.

The first tanker to reload a cargo of the chilled gas at the Bilbao terminal was Excelerate Energy’s 138,000 cbm Excellence, BBG said in a statement.

According to BBG, the 151,945 cbm British Sapphire will dock at the Bilbao terminal today to reload another cargo of LNG.

BBG has in the last couple years invested over 130 million Euros in the expansion of the Bilbao terminal. New additions include a third storage tank with a capacity of 150,ooo cbm, and facilities for LNG reloading operations.

During the first quarter of this year, BBG’s LNG terminal  has received six tankers (807.000 cbm) from Peru, Nigeria and Norway.
