Benthic Names New Chairman

Benthic, a global geosciences company, has appointed Chris Braithwaite as chairman of the board of directors.

Russell Staley, who has served as Benthic’s interim chairman following the resignation of the late John Smith in August of 2015, remains on the board as a director.

I was both delighted and honored to be approached about the Chair position at Benthic,” stated Chris Braithwaite. “This is a fascinating, innovative business with a world leading technology in the PROD seabed drilling units. Allied to that is a fast developing range of geotechnical and geophysical capability. I realize that times are tough in the oil & gas business right now, but it is clear that Benthic is well placed and has a great future. Benthic has an impressive track record and even in these times, the opportunities are very significant.”

Braithwaite’s 30 year career in project management, engineering and manufacturing businesses includes board and leadership roles in the service sector of the oil & gas industry.

He currently holds roles as the non-executive chairman of Ashtead Technology, non-executive director of Signum Technology and chairman of the supervisory board of Ampelmann.

“Chris’s long history of leadership and experience in the service sector of the industry makes him the ideal person for this role. We are confident Chris’s expertise and commitment will prove beneficial to the Company and its future. The board looks forward to working closely with Chris to ensure Benthic makes a positive impact for stakeholders, employees and clients,” stated Russell Staley, Director.
