BG to Use AGR's RMR and CTS Solutions for Knarr Development (Norway)

BG Group has signed an agreement with technology provider AGR Enhanced Drilling for Riserless Mud Recovery services (RMR®) and the firm’s Cuttings Transport System (CTS®).

These solutions will be used on a multi-well drilling campaign on the Knarr Field, located in the Norwegian North Sea.

Enhanced Drilling’s Executive Vice President, David Hine, said: “This contract win is another great testament to the people and technologies here at Enhanced Drilling. We look forward to delivering the benefits of both the RMR® and CTS® systems to BG Group on the Knarr Field.”

RMR® enables operators to use weighted mud during top-hole drilling. All mud and cuttings are returned to the rig, with no discharge to the sea. The result is a safer, more stable top-hole, drilled with minimal environmental impact.

CTS® enables operators to take cuttings, cement, mud, clay and other deposits away from the well area, keeping templates debris free. It has had a major impact on the validity of drilling operations in areas that have been deemed as being particularly environmentally sensitive.

RMR® and CTS® have together been deployed on more than 500 wells worldwide to date.

This latest contract win comes less than two weeks after the announcement that a major operator had signed up to use RMR® services off Sakhalin, Russia, in a deal worth USD3m.

Last year Norwegian company Enhanced Drilling built on its reputation for step-change technological solutions with the introduction of the EC-Drill® Managed Pressure Drilling system, which was used on three deep-water wells in the Gulf of Mexico.
