Bibby Offshore extends charter for Volstad’s DSV

Bibby Offshore, a subsea services provider to the oil and gas industry, has agreed to a long-term extension for the charter of the diving support vessel (DSV) Bibby Topaz with Volstad Seismic AS, a subsidiary of shipowner Volstad Maritime.

The Bibby Topaz DSV was delivered to Volstad in 2007 and has been under a long-term charter with Bibby Offshore since. The original contract for the vessel was due to expire on July 2017 with three two-year options remaining on the contract.

Bibby said on Tuesday that the contract extension would extend the charter until December 31, 2019.

Although none of the terms and conditions of the extended charter arrangement were disclosed, the company said that they reflect the current market environment and are based on a mutual sharing of risk and reward.

The Bibby Topaz was built by Fosen Mekaniske Verksteder AS in Norway. It is a 107-meter long, 22-meter long, DP-2 vessel with a deadweight of 5,000 tonnes.
