Bibby Offshore Looks to Shut Boycott in Norway

Subsea specialist Bibby Offshore has secured a preliminary injunction, namely a court order which prohibits Industri Energi going to boycott.

The boycott was scheduled for July 25, but will now be postponed pending a decision in court.

Norway’s biggest offshore union issued a boycott warning, earlier this month, after Bibby Offshore denied its claim for collective agreement for the company’s offshore workers engaged on the Norwegian Shelf.

Bibby Offshore landed its first contract in Norway with ConocoPhillips Skandinavia to support the integrity management of the Norpipe oil pipeline between the Ekofisk area and the Teesside facility in United Kingdom.

Industri Energi argues that for this contract, which is due for completion in Q3 2016 and will utilize the vessel Olympic Ares, Bibby Offshore exercises ‘social dumping’, and therefore aims to prevent the company from securing more work on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.
