BioMar orders new LNG-powered feed carrier

BioMar recently revealed that in collaboration with NSK Shipping it has placed an order for a new LNG-powered fish feed transportation vessel.

The vessel will be 81.5 meters long with a capacity to carry 2700 tons of fish feed and was designed in collaboration with NSK Ship Design, according to BioMar’s statement.

Propulsion engines powered by liquefied natural gas will be provided by Rolls-Royce, while the vessel will be built by Tersan Shipyard in Turkey.

Tersan Shipyard already built BioMar’s first LNG-powered fish feed transportation vessel, the MS Høydal in 2012 and is expected to deliver the new ship during 2017.
