BMT to Monitor Minerva’s Vessel Performance

Greek-based tanker operator Minerva Marine has upgraded its two chemical tankers, Minerva Leo and Minerva Tychi, with a vessel performance monitoring system that was installed by BMT SMART, a specialist fleet and vessel performance company of BMT Group.

Minerva Leo and Minerva Tychi are 38,911 dwt tankers built by South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard in 2015 and 2016, respectively.

As explained, the system combines data collected automatically onboard, from the navigation and automation systems, with data only available on shore.

Under the arrangement, the Minerva Marine team will use BMT’s web-based Smartfleet application to assess and gain insight into the vessels’ performance, while the shore-based personnel will also have a possibility to make decisions and help restore performance if intervention is necessary.

BMT has been able to offer a comprehensive package that can fully support our efforts to monitor daily operational costs and optimise fleet performance. The hardware seamlessly integrates with different on-board automation systems, synchronising easily with the on-board database,” Maria Tsobanoglou, New Buildings and S&P Senior Engineer at Minerva Marine, comments.

Minerva Marine has placed an additional order for BMT’s shaft power torque meter and vessel performance monitoring systems to be installed on its two new Suezmax tankers, Minerva Kalyspo and Minerva Evropi.
