Bookings Open for Offshore Decommissioning Conference 2014 (UK)
- Business & Finance
Bookings have now opened for the annual Offshore Decommissioning Conference, jointly organised by Decom North Sea and Oil & Gas UK.
Sponsored by EY and entitled ‘Delivering the Future Together’, the conference will reflect DNS’ key strategic themes of Collaboration and Innovation, with a focus upon bringing the decommissioning sector together to ensure future projects are undertaken in the most efficient and cost effective ways.
The conference will be chaired jointly by Nigel Jenkins, Decom North Sea’s chief executive, and Mick Borwell, Oil & Gas UK’s environmental issues director. Joining them, a line-up of industry experts will share their knowledge of decommissioning, whilst delegates will have the opportunity to attend workshops and engage in a range of interactive discussions between operators and contractors.
The influence of this conference is far reaching, as it will welcome delegates from the UK, Norway, The Netherlands and the USA. Delegates will have the opportunity to listen to presentations which will include an analysis of the current market, future opportunities, lessons learned from recent major projects and presentations from other users of the sea and their opinions on decommissioning.
Referencing the value of the conference to the decommissioning sector, Nigel Jenkins, Decom North Sea’s chief executive, said: “The “Wood Review” and the recent, “Scotland’s Independent Expert Commission on Oil and Gas: Maximising the Total Value Added” highlight the strategic importance of Decommissioning in the North Sea.
“The conference arrives at an opportune time for the industry and I am greatly looking forward to engaging with our members and stakeholders as we continue to play a vital role in the decommissioning of Oil & Gas Assets and create a centre of excellence for the industry.”
Oil & Gas UK’s environment director, Mick Borwell, said: “A key priority in the Wood report is the emphasis on greater collaboration across the industry and the need to provide the supply chain with better insight into the market opportunities. This conference plays an important role in facilitating this process and ensuring the industry shares knowledge on how to execute decommissioning in a safe, environmentally sound and cost effective manner.”
Taking place at Fairmont, St Andrews, 7 – 9 October, the conference will also play host to Decom North Sea’s Annual General Meeting.
The event is open to both members and non-members of DNS and Oil & Gas UK.
