BP to Use Safe Caledonia in UK North Sea

BP Exploration Operating Company Limited to Use Safe Caledonia (UK)

Prosafe has signed a contract with BP Exploration Operating Company Limited (‘BP’) for the use of Safe Caledonia conducting accommodation support at the Andrew Area Development Project in the UK sector of the North Sea.

On site operations are planned to commence end-2012, with a firm period through to end-August 2013. In addition, Prosafe has granted BP a one-month option. Total value of the firm period will be around USD 65.4 million.

The Safe Caledonia was built in 1982 at the GVA / Kockums yard in Sweden to a Pacesetter design, and was refurbished and upgraded to DP 2 / POSMOOR in 2004. It has a maximum of 454 beds, 9 offices and 78 workstations, a high level of accommodation and a fully articulated, automated gangway.

The Safe Caledonia has DP 2 station keeping abilities and can also deploy a 10-point wire mooring pattern, managed by a POSMOOR thruster assisted online mooring system. She is able to serve the most demanding charters in all geographical areas.
