Brazil: Sevan Driller Back in Action Following Repairs

Sevan Drilling, a Norway-based international drilling contractor last week reported a leak in a control line of its Sevan Driller ultra deepwater rig.

The compay today said that the control line has been replaced and the repair is completed. After having pressure tested the BOP, Sevan Driller was back on full day rates at 1.30 am Brazilian time on Sunday, 22 April, 2012. Total downtime related to this incident is approximately 7 days.

In June 2010, UDW Sevan Driller became the world’s first cylindrical drilling rig to commence operation. The rig is currently operating under a six year contract for Petrobras S.A. offshore Brazil.
