Brunei Shell Petroleum Extends Contract with Wood Group JV


Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) has awarded SKSWood, a Wood Group joint venture, a two-year extension for one of the largest integrated service contracts in Asia Pacific.

SKSWood has executed and managed the offshore construction and maintenance associated with approximately 200 offshore assets for BSP since 2003. The scope of services includes work preparation and scheduling, fabrication, materials handling, electrical and instrumentation and offshore execution. The contract has the capacity to execute in excess of one million productive manhours of offshore work and will employ 1,200 people.

“We are delighted to have been awarded this significant contract extension with BSP,” said Les Thomas, Group Board Director.

“Our emphasis is to maintain a strong safety performance to complement the safety excellence of BSP, one of the top safety performers in Shell. SKSWood takes pride in having achieved four million manhours worked incident free in December 2009.”

The extension of the contract will result in more local employment opportunities and partner enhancement of the Brunei Supply Chain. It will also generate opportunities for other local companies to provide support and ensures sustainability of local skills and businesses.

Syarikat Kejuruteraan Sistematik (SKS) – Brunei Darussalam was set up in 1982 and has progressed to become one of the major material suppliers and service contractors to the oil & gas industry in Brunei. The head office is located in Seria, Negara Brunei.

Petrokon Utama Sdn Bhd is a local multi-discipline engineering consultancy established in Brunei Darussalam in 1984 to provide design engineering and project management services to the petrochemical, oil & gas and building industries.
