Bumi Armada Receives Its Newbuild PSV

Malaysia-based international offshore oilfield services company, Bumi Armada Berhad (Bumi Armada) announced that it took delivery of the first of four PSVs (platform supply vessels) from Sentinel Offshore (L) Ltd on 31 July 2013 at the  Xiamen Shipyard in China.

The contract for the four PSVs which is worth approximately USD80 million (RM260 million) is part of the company‟s OSV fleet expansion programme.

Bumi Armada‟s Executive Director and CEO, Mr Hassan Basma said: “The purchase of these four PSVs is another part of our fleet  expansion programme „Steel on Water 2‟ which was initiated last year. Earlier this year, we had placed a USD130 million order  for four DP2 diesel-electric MPSVs (with an option for another four) and acquired a DP2 diesel-electric MPSV, the Armada  Condor. Through a build/buy strategy, we aim to increase both the size of our fleet to 80 to serve clients in Asia, Africa and Latin  America as well as the quality of vessels; vessels that are Green, Clean, Safe and Fuel Efficient (GCSE).”

The PSV named Armada Tuah 303, is a 75 m long platform supply vessel which has cargo capacity of 3,300 tonnes, tanks for  liquid mud/brine, base oil, dry bulk, fuel and water. The ABS-classed DP2 platform supply vessel features 700 m2 of free deck  space, accommodation for 50 persons, fire-fighting capability and oil recovery Class-C.

The next PSV will be delivered by the end of Q3 2013 while the remaining two PSVs will be in the fourth quarter of 2013.
