Bureau Veritas’ Type Certification of Wind Turbines to Comprise GL Guidelines

Bureau Veritas has announced it has successfully extended its current COFRAC accreditation to undertake Type Certification of wind turbines and components to include the GL Guidelines.

Bureau Veritas’ Type Certification of Wind Turbines to Comprise GL Guidelines

This development extends Bureau Veritas capability to offer certification services to clients in the wake recent certification consolidation in the sector. Bureau Veritas is already accredited to the IEC 61400 standards, but due to continuous monitoring of the needs of the industry, a move was made last year to seek the extension to its existing accreditation.

This development, together with the recent announcement of collaboration on blade certification with LM Wind Power, demonstrates Bureau Veritas’ growing ambition in the wind sector.

“We are delighted to be able to expand our capability to service the global wind energy sector. Though we believe there is a natural trend to harmonize and rely on international standards, Bureau Veritas must be able to offer the service that the industry needs and that means being able to certify against all relevant standards.” explained John MacAskill, Head of Renewables. “The project was smooth which reflects the process and systems we already have in place and the hard work of the certification team. We look into having more discussions with the industry, now we have expanded our capability.”
