Bureau Veritas said it had been selected as the class society for the new Eesti Gaas’ liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering vessel to be built by the Dutch shipbuilder Damen Group.

As informed earlier this month, the 6000-cbm vessel will provide LNG bunkering for LNG-fuelled vessels in the North-East region of the Baltic Sea as well as onshore clients in the region.

Estonia’s Eesti Gaas will operate this LNG bunkering vessel under a long-term charter from its parent company and owner of the vessel, Infortar AS.

The LNG bunkering vessel will feature dual-fuel engines and ice class 1A, according to the Finnish-Swedish ice-class regulations. This will allow the vessel to operate all year round, including in the region’s challenging ice conditions.

The 99.8m long vessel is scheduled for delivery in September 2020.
