BW Paris FSRU conversion 95 pct done

BW LNG, a unit of the Singapore-based gas shipping giant BW Group, reached 95 percent completion on its BW Paris LNG carrier conversion project.

The company said in a brief statement through its social channels that the vessel was undocked today at Keppel shipyard in Singapore where it is currently undergoing conversion to become BW LNG’s 4th floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU).

In terms of work progress only paint touch-ups and commissioning remain, with both due to be completed within the next few weeks, BW LNG said.

Additionally, the company said Keppel and BW reached 800,000 man hours without any lost time incident (LTI). With the addition of Wärtsila fabrication of the vessel, 1,150,000 man hours without LTI have been reached.

Once the conversion is complete the vessel will be capable of holding 171,793 cubic meters of the chilled fuel and will be capable of regasifying up to 750 million metric standard cubic feet of natural gas per day.
