International legal and claims consultants C Solutions Ltd today announced the appointment of Laurence McFadyen as Senior Legal Consultant.

He will work alongside members of the firm’s global shipping team, assisting clients in particular with the investigation and management of maritime casualties and in relation to charterparty, bill of lading and cargo claims.

Laurence joins from his role as partner at Sach Solicitors. Before qualifying as a solicitor, he spent 14 years at sea serving on a variety of ship types, including bulkers and tankers with Ocean Fleets, moving to offshore supply vessels and anchor handlers in the North Sea. Coming ashore, he gained a First Class Honours degree in Nautical Studies and then worked as a claims executive at the West of England and Skuld P&I Clubs. Laurence is currently completing the necessary courses and sea time required by the MCA to revalidate his certificate of competency, giving him hands on experience of the latest electronic ship systems.

He brings a wealth of expertise, combining his experience as a mariner with a legal practice advising ship owners, managers, insurers and P&I Clubs on the full range of wet and dry shipping issues.
