Cables and connectors supplier wanted for Galway Bay test site

The Marine Institute has invited tenders for the provision of cables and connector units for the Galway Bay Marine and Renewable Energy Test Site.

The Marine Institute will award a Single Supplier Framework Agreement for a period of 2 years, under which the supplier will deliver one unit of cables and connectors by the end of August 2016. Subject to available funding, there is an option for the delivery of additional units.

The Marine Institute is looking for suitably qualified organisations for the design, manufacturing and supply of underwater integrated power and communication cables, both static and dynamic, and an underwater “junction box” connector. The connector will be located on the seabed between the static and the dynamic cables.

The cables and junction box will be used to connect the Cable End Equipment (CEE) and surface or subsurface Ocean Energy Conversion (OEC) devices at the Galway Bay Marine and Renewable Energy Test Site.

The Marine Institute said it will require the manufacturing and delivery of a number of units as part of the tender.

Deadline for Requests for Documents is 28 February, and tenders can be submitted by 11 March, 2016.
