Cape grabs Prelude FLNG job

Industrial services provider Cape said on Monday it has been awarded a contract from Samsung Heavy Industries for Shell’s giant Prelude FLNG facility.

Under the contract, Cape will perform the installation of insulation to the cryogenic pipework on the process topside on Prelude floating LNG facility, currently under construction at SHI’s Geoje shipyard, the company said in a statement.

Once complete, the Prelude FLNG facility will be moored 475 kilometres north-east of Broome in Western Australia.

The Prelude FLNG facility is 488m long, 74m wide and along with its contents, will weigh around 600,000 tonnes.

Once operational, the Prelude FLNG facility will produce at least 5.3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of liquids: 3.6 mtpa of LNG, 1.3 mtpa of condensate (equivalent to 35,000 bbl/d) and 0.4 mtpa of LPG.
