CBRE Assists Forum with Move into New Premises

Forum Energy Technologies, is set to move into new premises at Westhill in Aberdeen, assisted in all aspects by CBRE.

CBRE was asked to carry out a global audit of Forum’s commercial real estate holdings. As part of the review the decision was made to bring the majority of the Scottish companies together in one location whilst retaining a separate regional head office at Cumberland House, Westhill.

CBRE identified an off-market opportunity on Peregrine Road with developer Dandara, and a new 55,000 sq ft build-to-suit detached industrial unit was taken on a 15 year lease, the company informed.

In addition to securing the space, CBRE also provided space planning and fit-out design advice, monitored the base build and then tendered for and project managed the fit-out.

Iain Landsman, an associate director with CBRE and key member of the firm’s Global Energy Practice group in Aberdeen, said: “It’s been a fantastic project to head up on behalf of CBRE in Aberdeen. Forum was constrained by having multiple locations across the city and the consolidation will allow the business to flourish under one single banner.

“The lack of ready-to-occupy industrial units in Aberdeen meant that we had to look at the build-to-suit route for Forum, and with the assistance of our Building Consultancy team we have been able to deliver the ideal, cost effective unit for our client.”

Larry Maurer, vice president of Manufacturing for Forum said: “The 2010 merger brought a multitude of well-known, trusted brands in our industry together. However, it became clear that we had to secure one location so that all of the businesses could operate under one roof, providing customers with the best service possible.

“CBRE has handled over 50 property assignments for us globally and this is the fourth large-scale consolidation it has delivered for us having handled similar projects in Texas, Louisiana and Singapore.”
