Ceona Names New QESH Senior Vice President

Ceona, SURF contractor with heavy subsea construction capabilities, has appointed Hugh Barrs as new Senior Vice President Quality, Environment, Safety and Health (QESH). Hugh Barrs is reporting to the CEO, Steve Preston.

Hugh Barrs, Senior Vice President Quality, Environment, Safety and Health (QESH).

Hugh Barrs joins Ceona bringing more than 15 years’ experience in the QESH field gained with both operators and contractors. Hugh’s career began in the Royal Navy, moving into the oil and gas industry, including operator and EPC, and then construction/civil engineering.

On leaving the Navy, he joined ConocoPhillips and focussed on creating a HSE system that has been described as best in class for the industry. He then moved to Worley Parsons and Foster Wheeler before joining the Kier Group, where he was Group Director – Safety, Health and Environment, accountable for the delivery of the SHE strategy across the group, both in the UK and overseas. This included the development and application of non-fiscal risk acceptance criteria, alignment of emergency response, crisis management and business continuity systems, and the continuous improvement of the company’s ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 portfolios.
