Chengxi Shipyard Launches Third Delta37

Chengxi Launches Third Delta37

Chengxi Shipyard, few day ago, held a launching ceremony for CNCO’s third 39,500 DWT B.Delta37 bulk carrier.

Mr. Wang Yongliang, President of Chengxi Shipyard and Mr. Tim Blackburn, Managing Director of CNCO together with Ms. Camilla Swire started the launching process.

At the ceremony, Mr. Wang Yongliang said, “Today, in such great joy and excitement, we gathered along this beautiful Yangtze River, and witness the successful launching of the No.3 handysize Bulk Carrier built by Chengxi for China Navigation.

Thanks to Deltamarin’s innovative approach, these ships have been designed to achieve extremely high efficiency for their type, ensuring the lowest fuel consumption per tonne mile. The vessels feature five double skin cargo holds and are designed to carry bulk cargoes, grain, coal, concentrates, logs, heavy general cargo, steel coils, steel slabs and a wide variety of heavy project cargoes.

The tanktops are specifically strengthened for heavy cargoes and all holds have double skin hydraulic folding hatch covers and forced draft fans for cargo care. Four electric deck cranes are mounted on the centerline, each rated at 36 tons at maximum outreach of 26m.

It gives me great pleasure to be standing here today on behalf of The China Navigation Company to celebrate the launching of MV Wuhu, CNCo’s 208th newbuilding. This ship – the third 39,000 dwt handysize bulk carrier scheduled for delivery over the next two years – represents a promising and exciting future for Swire Bulk, our drybulk shipowning and operating division,” said Mr. Tim Blackburn.

In total, CNCo ordered a series of sixteen 39,500 dwt bulk carriers from Chengxi, China. The vessels will be deployed in CNCo’s drybulk division, Swire Bulk, and will operate on a worldwide basis.
