China: CIC Lixin Shipyard Completes Repair Works for Vessel MT Xingchi

CIC Lixin Shipyard Completes Repair Works for Vessel MT Xingchi

Sounding a siren, M.T. Xingchi departed from the Donggou branch of CIC Lixin Shipyard on November 14th, 2011. The major repair projects of the subject vessel were regular docking survey and the repair of No.2 A/E and 3 sets of generators.

During the repair period, the QC staff found the isolation value of No.2 generator was too low by on-site inspection. If the yard let it go through, there would be a potential hazard of the generator to be burnt out.

The QC staff reported this situation to the quality control department and tested the isolation value of other two generators, in which found the same problems. The staff gave up their rest time to repair the generators and checked the isolation values again. The generators got QC pass when the isolation values were confirmed to be normal and the test run was also in order.

The yard has avoided a potential hazard to the generators for the owners and ensured repair quality.
