China: Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard to Build Deltamarin’s B.Delta25 Bulk Carriers

Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard to Build Deltamarin's B.Delta25 Bulk Carrier

Deltamarin has entered into a contract with CSSC / Guangzhou Wenchong Shipyard Co. Ltd. (China) for the design of B.Delta25 bulk carriers. This is the first contract for the 28,000 DWT bulk carrier, which further strengthens the position of the B.Delta designs in the market.

Deltamarin already has several contracts for the larger handysize B.Delta37 bulk carriers currently under construction at CSIC / Tianjin Xingang, CSSC / Chengxi and Yangfan Group shipyards in China.

Deltamarin will procure the Basic Design, part of the Detail Design, the Technical Procurement handling and will also have a site team to ensure continuity all along the design phases to production.

The vessels shall have the following main particulars:

Length over all 175.0 m

Beam 27.0 m

Deadweight of 28,000 metric tons on 8.7 m

Deadweight of 25,000 metric tons on 8.0 m

Cargo cubic 37,000 m3

The design is a single hull bulk carrier with shallow draft and good manoeuvring capabilities intended for operation in restricted water depths, and very low fuel consumption.

Deltamarin’s focus in the design has been on fuel efficiency. The service speed at design draft shall be 14.0 knots and the model tested daily fuel oil consumption at design draft shall be 16.6 t including 15 % seamargin, ISO conditions. The EEDI shall be 23 % less than the requirements to come into force.

The proven solutions that enable such improvements to existing designs are a combination of hull form, propeller, rudder and main engine solutions applied in a novel way. Consistent results have been gained in model tests with all the B.Delta designs.

B.Delta25 strengthens the famous B.Delta series which includes also B.Delta37, B.Delta64 and B.Delta82 designs.

This is yet another of Deltamarin’s B.Delta designs where the French shipbrokers Barry Rogliano Salles (BRS) have given their valuable input especially in marketing the designs.

The work will be carried out at Deltamarin’s offices in Europe and China and utilizing the partner network. The value of the contractual design work for the Bulk Carriers is approximately 23 man-years.
