China: Oil Rig “Nan Hai 8” Arrives to Yiu Lian Dockyards for Overhaul

In the evening of 29th September, the semi-submersible oil rig “Nan Hai 8”was towed into Yiu Lian Dockyards (Shekou) Ltd. and she will stay here in the yard for upgrading and repairing in the coming two months. The top management from both the owner and the shipyard welcomed the rig’s arrival in the yard’s quay and a simple welcome ceremony for the rig was held.

“Nai Hai 8” is the sixth rig which repaired at Yiu Lian (Shekou) in this year, with main particulars of 82.29 m in length, 69.49 m in breadth and 1400 in operation depth. Along with the rig’s yard entry, presently it is the third time for the yard to repair total 3 rigs at same time. The other two are “Neptune Finder” and “Kan Tan 3”.

With so many oil rigs’ repairing and upgrading in the yard, Yiu Lian Dockyards (Shekou) Ltd. has become a leading shipyard in China for offshore engineering repairing and conversion, especially a specialist shipyard for oil rigs’ repairing and conversion.
